The ICIC20 Virtual Conference is a relaunch of the 20th International Conference on Integrated Care that was due to take place in Šibenik, Croatia in April. Connect from anywhere in the world, removing the cost and time associated barriers involved in attending the physical conference.

The Virtual Conference will be attended by over 1,000 integrated care experts representing over 80 countries. Oral presentations, workshops and the poster displays have been redesigned across 4 themed days. With one simple log in delegates can access the full programme of plenaries, breakouts, networking and exhibition space opportunities, choosing to join their preferred sessions just like at a physical event. All sessions are available on demand so delegates can catch up later on other sessions.

 

On the first day of the conference, Wednesday, 9th September we will be welcomed by our hosts in Zagreb with representatives from the Ministry for Health and the City of Zagreb, including a keynote presentation from Dr Nina Obuljen-Koržinek, Minister of Culture of the Republic of Croatia who will speak about "The use of cultural programmes to promote health (in the context of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Horticulture and other social programmes in Croatia)".

The opening plenary will look at 
"A global approach to improving health outcomes beyond COVID 19 – where to next?" and will be chaired by our Conference Host, Asst. Prof. Antonija Balenović, Director, Health Centre Zagreb and IFIC Board Secretary and Vice-Chair, Professor Áine Carroll, Professor of Healthcare Integration and Improvement, University College Dublin/National Rehabilitation Hospital and Co-Director, IFIC Ireland. 
 
The plenary will open with a video montage "What has the COVID 19 experience been like for me?" which is a selection of interviews with people who have been directly impacted by COVID 19 including patients, family members, health and care workers and managers. 
 
Our keynote speaker Dr Natasha Azzopardi-Muscat, Director of the Division of Country Health Policies and Systems, WHO Europe will look the recent global response to the pandemic and consider "The partnership approach to increasing regional impact in improving health and care outcomes during and beyond COVID 19" 

Following Natasha's presentation we will hear from a panel of experts who will consider "The Future of Health and Care" – what are the challenges, opportunities and unknowns that need to be considered by health and care systems to future proof health and care services for patients – thinking about the pandemic response, technology advancements, changes in demographics, attitudes/behavioural changes, international turmoil, climate change etc. – What is the leadership required – what are the impacts on the workforce – how can we achieve universal access to health services?

Panelists include: Dr Claire Thomas, President of the Vasco da Gama Movement (VDGM) for European young doctors, World Organisation of Family Doctors, WONCA; Josep Figueras, European Health Observatory; Dr Donald Macaskill, CEO, Scottish Care; and Dr. Emem Omokaro, Dave Omokaro Foundation Nigeria/ Co- Chair Stakeholder Group on Ageing Africa (SGA Africa).
