The theme of the 2018 Fundamental Rights Forum of the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights is 'Belonging'. It will focus on strengthening the ties that bind everyone in the EU to the societies they live in. Building on the basic need for people to feel safe, secure and belong to a wider community. The event is expected to bring together over 400 participants from human rights communities, the arts, business, international, national and local organisations to discuss new perspectives to pressing human rights issues and strategies.
On 26 September, from 14 to 15h30, AGE is organizing a Forum parallel open session on Making rights real: the fight against ageism, which will further explore the drivers of ageism that act as barriers to the full and equal realisation of human rights in older age and examine how a rights-based approach can end poverty, reduce inequality and promote health and wellbeing in later life.
